MB: Golf Membership Expensed, Not Even Used

Author: Colin Craig 2012/11/30

A while back I exposed some pretty crazy expenses at a federal government fish marketing board here in Winnipeg - Freshwater Fish Marketing Corporation.

One of the more questionable expenses were golf membership fees for the CEO.

Well, I dug a bit deeper as I didn't see anything in the way of expenses for guests at the course in question. Of course the golf dues were expensed in the name of entertaining clients. I followed up with FFMC for copies of expenses from wining and dining clients at the course and low and behold - there were none.

You can see FFMC's response by clicking here.

It's ludicrous to force fishermen to sell their fish to a crown corporation, let alone one that is off expensing golf memberships for the CEO. However, it's even more ludicrous that the golf membership wasn't even used!

Again, it's time to free the fishermen from this marketing board monopoly; let the fishermen decide if they wish to keep selling to FFMC or on their own.
